The mission of Filipinx in Tech (FiT) is to support, develop, and help define the legacy that Filipinx will build for current and future generations.
Our Purpose
Filipinx in Tech is a California non-profit organization that serves the Filipinx tech community through career development support and resources.
We connect with tech companies and tech professionals to provide events, programs, and mentorship to the Filipinx community.
Our Story
Filipinx in Tech came to life in 2019 while Rachel attended General Assembly’s UX Immersive Design course. At the time, there were various tech organizations that provided resources, networking opportunities, and a sense of community to their members. However, being a Filipino-American in tech is a unique experience that is not often in focus — and so Filipinx in Tech was born.
Utilizing her network, Rachel organized the first event at the General Assembly’s San Francisco Campus which had over 55 people in attendance. Since then, our monthly events have continued to gather our Filipinx peers and allies to start discussions not often had, to rediscover our pride in being Filipinx, and to support one another through our shared sense of “kapwa,” the Filipino value of togetherness.
